The 3rd Annual Burlingame Broadway Pet Parade was sponsored by the Broadway Merchants Association, the Peninsula Humane Society and the Daily Journal.
Judges for the parade were, Cathy Baylock, mayor of Burlingame; Jon Mays, editor in chief of the Daily Journal; and Ken White, executive director of the Peninsula Humane Society
Grand Prize –
The Begovich family of Hillsborough for their “Hawaii Five-O” entry featuring brothers Joseph, 9, Daniel, 7, and Neal, 5, and the family dog, Carly, all dressed Hawaiian style. The boys pulled a wagon containing a giant inflated palm tree, inner tube and Hawaiian-theme balloons.
Best Dressed Pet –
Rocky, a German Shepherd owned by Rosemary Militti of San Mateo, was dressed in slick motorcycle leathers. He is about 1 year old. Rosemary adopted him from the Peninsula Humane Society.
Best Group –
The Holland family of Burlingame and their two pugs, Smeagle and Billy, were dressed in pirate costumes.
Most Interesting Pet –
A 3-foot-tall miniature pony named Hollywood had his mane decorated with orange, black and gold ribbons and his hooves painted gold and trimmed with glitter. Hollywood is owned by Debi Denardi of Colma. He is 1 year old.
Best Dressed Pet/Owner Combo –
Cowgirls Sheila Druskin and her 3-month-old, Sophie, paraded with cowboy Bailey the dog, who is 2-1/2 years old. They reside in Burlingame.
Most Original Float or Wagon –
Three Burlingame 10-year-olds, Katie Adams, Stacie Arbues and Rachel Bisaillon, won for their entry “Morgen the Magician and Rosie the Rabbit.” Morgen, a Belgian sheepdog, was dressed as a magician accompanying Rosie, a shih tzu that wore rabbit ears and rode in a giant top hat.
